Jamie Roe was born in Detroit, Michigan and grew up in Detroit and Livonia. After high school he attended Michigan State University and earned a B.A. in Political Science.
In 1989 Jamie was hired by the Michigan Republican Party and served as a Field Representative and Volunteer Mail coordinator during the 1990 election cycle. The party mail effort sent millions of pieces of mail in support of the John Engler for Governor campaign, Bill Schuette for U.S. Senate campaign, and the entire Republican ticket.
In the 1992 and 1994 election cycles Jamie served as the Field Director for the party with responsibilities including the direction of party field staff, volunteer mail program, party grassroots Get-Out-The-Vote programs, all state committee meetings and state nominating conventions. In the 1994 cycle he also helped to oversee the general election campaign efforts of the party in support of the successful Candice Miller for Secretary of State campaign. During these two election cycles the party grassroots programs and political support led to historic Republican victories including the pickup of six State House Seats in 1992 giving the GOP parity in the State House and in 1994 a majority for the first time in a generation, the landslide re-election of Governor John Engler, the election of Senator Spencer Abraham and Secretary of State Candice Miller, and the retention of the State Senate majority. Jamie concluded his career at the State Party in 1996 as the Political Director.
In December 1996 Jamie became the Director of Constituent Services for Secretary of State Candice Miller and took leave early in 1998 to serve as the Campaign Manager for re-election campaign. In that campaign Candice Miller received 68% of the statewide vote, became the first state official in Michigan history to receive over 2 million votes, and in unprecedented fashion carried each of Michigan’s 83 counties. Following that election Jamie returned to the Department of State to serve as the Director of Government Affairs overseeing the Department’s legislative efforts and the Office of the Great Seal.
In 2002, Jamie served as Campaign Manager for Candice Miller’s successful campaign for the United States House of Representatives in which she received over 63% of the vote even though she was running for the seat formerly held for 26 years by Democrat Whip David Bonior and the Democrats recruited their strongest possible candidate who raised over $1 million and received political and fundraising support from former President Bill Clinton and Hollywood activists.
In January 2003, Jamie began his service as the Chief of Staff for Congresswoman Candice Miller overseeing all office operations, and management of the office budget. He has assisted in her service as a member of the Republican Whip Team, as a Deputy Whip, as Chair of the Border and Maritime Subcommittee of the House Homeland Security Committee, and as Chair of the Full Committee on House Administration. In this role Jamie also helped to establish the motto of the office which was “We Fight for the home team” as unapologetic supporters and advocates for the district’s and Michigan’s interests. He left the Candice Miller team in July 2015 to help found Grand River Strategies.
Jamie lives in Macomb Township with his wife Liz and their two daughters Olivia and Mia.
